How do I change my APN settings?

If you are having difficulty connecting to the Internet on a non-PC Mobile phone, you may need to update your mobile network settings. These instructions will be different depending on your phone’s operating system.

Android

  1. Navigate to your phone’s Settings

  2. Navigate to Connection and Mobile Networks Settings (the wording in your menu may vary)

  3. Select Access Point Names

  4. Select Add a New APN

  5. Enter the following information and leave the remaining fields blank:
    a. Name: Internet
    b. APN: pda.bell.ca
    c. MMSC: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc
    d. APN Type: default,supl,mms

  6. Save changes

  7. Select Internet to assign the new APN that was just created

iOS

Your iPhone may not require you to update your network settings and the option to do so may be hidden. If your iPhone requires a change, please follow these steps to edit your cellular network settings.

  1. Navigate to your phone’s Settings

  2. Navigate to Cellular

  3. Select Cellular Data Options

  4. Select Cellular Data Network

  5. Enter the following information and leave the remaining fields blank:
    a. APN: pda.bell.ca
    b. MMSC: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapencb

  6. Return to the previous screen. Your changes will be saved automatically.

Windows Phone

  1. Navigate to your phone's Settings

  2. Navigate to Cellular + SIM

  3. Select SIM Settings

  4. Select Add Internet APN

  5. Enter the following information and leave the remaining fields blank:

    a. pda.bell.ca

  6. Save changes

  7. Follow these additional steps to set up Multimedia Messaging on your Windows Phone:

    a. Return to SIM Settings
    b. Select Add MMS APN
    c. Enter the following information and leave the remaining fields blank:
    d. APN: pda.bell.ca
    e. MMSC: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc

  8. Save changes

Blackberry

Note: The latest Blackberry devices use Android Operating System. If you have an Android based device, refer to the Android instructions. You will need to make sure your device has the latest software:

  1. Navigate to Settings

  2. Select Software Updates

  3. Select Check for Updates

  4. If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to install it. If an update is not available, select Back, and continue with the instructions below.

If your Blackberry device has the latest software, follow these instructions to update your APN settings:

  1. Navigate to Options

  2. Select Device

  3. Select Advanced System Settings

  4. Select TCP IP

  5. Enter the following information and leave the remaining fields blank:

  6. APN Settings: Make sure Enabled is checked

  7. APN: pda.bell.ca

  8. Save changes

Follow these additional steps to set up Multimedia Messaging on your Blackberry:

  1. Navigate to Text Messages

  2. Open the Menu and select Settings

  3. Select Text Messages

  4. Select Advanced

  5. Enter the following information and leave the remaining fields blank:
    APN: pda.bell.ca
    MMSC: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc

  6. Save changes

To make sure that your settings are working, turn off Wi-Fi so you are using mobile data. Next, open your mobile browser and visit any web page. If your data is still not working, restart your device.
